Murhut Falls is one of those classic Olympic Peninsula hikes that delivers a huge payoff for very little effort, making it perfect for a spontaneous outing or an easy day when you still want something scenic. The short, gently graded trail winds through lush, moss-covered forest filled with towering firs, ferns, mushrooms, and seasonal wildflowers, gradually pulling you deeper into that quiet, damp Olympic rainforest feel. As you near the end, the sound of rushing water builds before Murhut Falls suddenly reveals itself—two dramatic tiers plunging more than 130 feet down a mossy cliff into the ravine below. With a bench at the viewpoint, optional access to the base of the falls, no complicated logistics, and great conditions most of the year (especially spring and fall when flows are strongest), Murhut Falls is an easy win for hikers of all skill levels who want big scenery without committing to a long day.
