Lake Angeles Backpacking in Olympic National Park
5 Spots Left
I have an overnight permit for Lake Angeles, starting from the Switchback Trail trailhead. Overnight permits are required for this trip, so each participant will need to secure their own permit through Recreation.gov. As of early June, there are still plenty of spots available. The hike in is moderately challenging to strenuous, with a steady climb into the Lake Angeles basin. Once we arrive, we’ll have the rest of the day to relax by the lake, swim, explore the shoreline, and enjoy the alpine scenery. Plan to be self-sufficient with your own backpacking gear, food, and essentials. This should be a beautiful overnight trip with a rewarding lake destination and plenty of time to unwind once we’re there.

Chain Lakes Loop
6 Spots Left
This will be a fun, beginner-friendly backpacking weekend on the Chain Lakes Loop—perfect for anyone who hasn’t backpacked much. We’ll meet at Artist Point and hike in to Mazama Lake to set up camp. Depending on how everyone feels, we’ll either stay both nights at Mazama Lake or do a short, easy move to Hayes Lake for a second night. We’ll plan a relaxed day hike along Ptarmigan Ridge, with plenty of downtime to hang out and enjoy the scenery. Overall, expect great views, easy miles, and a very chill weekend.
